We've established 5 core values for our ministry to ensure both kids and parents get all they want out of ROCK.
CORE Values
1. We will always be Christ Centred.
> Kids are going to form their first impressions of God and the local church through our ministry, so we want that picture to accurately reflect how awesome it is to have a relationship with the God of the universe. Therefore, Jesus and the truth of the bible are central to the teaching and heart of the ROCK ministry without compromise. We fully intend to do an excellent job of painting the picture for them now, while they are young - so that they grow into good, responsible, and productive people, happy in every area of their lives.
2. We aim to be Child Relevant
> To communicate with the children in a way that is appealing, relevant and meaningful to them without compromising the message or meaning of Gods word. It's amazing how easily this value can get turned around. Because we are working with adult volunteers, it's easy to start doing the things that please adults instead of focusing on our target audience. We need to be very clear that we are trying to reach children.
3. We want everything we do to be Fun!
> Our goal is to have our children come back week after week because they can't wait to return. We want them to have FUN.
While kids keep coming back for the FUN, we can accomplish our mission by continuing to nurture and teach them spiritually. In order to make our children's ministry the best hour of a child's week, we have to remember to add the FUN! And remember, the FUN factor affects adult volunteers, too!
4. We want ROCK to be a Safe place for children.
> We understand that safety and security are two of a child's highest needs. Children cannot learn well in an environment where they are afraid and don't feel safe emotionally, physically, or spiritually. We need to assure parents and children alike that we have their best interests as our top priority at all times. That's why safety is a must.
5. Rock is a Nurturing place for kids
> Building a relationship with a child may be the most effective teaching tool of all. We have the incredible privilege of representing Jesus and modelling what it means to be a follower of Christ to children each week.
